Do We Realize Our Blessings?
I walked into the garden one afternoon this afternoon to do some things, when I began to be dive-bombed by the, up till then, normally very tolerant swallow couple. They have recently hatched their eggs and are very protective. Its amazing how annoying such a tiny bird can be.
While I can appreciate their being protective of their nest of hatchlings I began to think of how ungrateful they were. Didn’t they realize that I was the one who had provided their (blue) bird house and garden space? Just then, another thought suddenly entered my mind – I think it was placed there by One who cares. I suddenly thouught about how many times I, or should I saw we?, have been ungrateful to God who provides all my/our blessings! Do I/we ever try to chase Him away, perceiving Him as a “threat” instead of a blessing? Perhaps we need to stop and take some time to realize how much I/we need Him, and what a loving providing God He is. And while we should do that every day, the Sabbath is a perfect time to do it!
